Reece-Jones Consulting Ltd is an independent consultancy. The principal consultant Richard Reece-Jones has worked in regulatory toxicology for over 35 years, the majority of the time with pharmaceuticals, biotechnology products and medical devices. For the past 15 years he has designed and led a wide variety of safety portfolios, working mainly with small spin-out companies and academic groups, this has led to a high degree of interface with the regulatory agencies in the UK, Europe, Japan and USA. Richard is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology a Chartered Biologist and has held his EU registration as a toxicologist (ERT) since it`s conception over 10 years ago. He is now supported by 3 associates with a combined experience of over 70 years in the pharmaceutical development space.

An EU registered toxicologist with extensive (over 30 years) Pre-Clinical experience gained in the CRO, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology sectors. He has developed and driven through pre-clinical packages to take a wide variety of pharmaceutical and biotechnology entities to registration within agreed timelines. He has experience with both regulators and CMC professionals.

In addition, his background from the Contract Research environment allows him to look for value in this early stage of development and he maintains an excellent relationship with the major Pre-clinical outsource facilities both in the UK and Europe.

Particularly experienced in working with small fledgling “spin out” companies and has design and negotiated preclinical safety packages keeping within tight budget constraints. This has proved very useful for commercialization opportunities from within academia.

Section Head: Day to Day manage a group of 4-6 toxicologists of varying experience. Including training and development needs

Expert toxicological and technical support for Covance client services.

Programme Management, interfacing with Biotechnical and regulatory functions.

Special responsibility within Covance globally for in vivo immunotoxicology evaluation.

                       Design of development plans to Phase I clinical for a wide range of compound types.

Interaction with Phase I clinical over dose level selection for dose levels to IRBs.

Member of the departmental Report Editorial and Review Board.

Senior Study Director of sub-chronic and chronic toxicity and oncogenicity studies in both rodents and non-rodent species.

ICI Pharmaceuticals (AZ) (1988-1992)

To act as a professional toxicologist in the role of Study Director.

Manager of an integrated group of scientific and technical staff (3 technical teams comprising 16 staff).

Conduct and report the pre-clinical safety evaluation studies required by ICI Pharmaceutical’s business, for submission to international regulatory authorities.

To act as Liaison Toxicologist on the Atheroma project team to ensure sound toxicological input to the initial development of candidate compounds.
